European MICROKELVIN
Collaboration Case Study
The European Microkelvin Collaboration is a European Commission funded low temperature physics research collaboration headed by Helsinki University of Technology and consisting of 12 universities and partners across Europe. Using a website, Microkelvin researchers needed to effectively communicate information about the project to other researchers. Showtime Studios supported Microkelvin with a suitable, distinctive and captivating website design and communication consultancy related to the website, thereby positively contributing to the communication objectives of the Microkelvin Collaboration.
CHALLENGES
Microkelvin project participants were in need of a design which was attractive, user friendly and appropriate for low temperature research. They looked to Showtime Studios to deliver custom website design.
Beyond design, Microkelvin expected Showtime Studios to recommend how to best present elements of the website and how to structure the content. Branding in terms of a logo was also required. A recognisable visual identity symbolising the research and EU wide collaboration of the low temperature physics initiative was required.
Document creation and sharing functionality were also needed to meet the secure communication requirements of the centre.

SERVICES DELIVERED
An engaging website with light blue colours, tone and structure meeting the research agenda was delivered. Further, a custom logo which captured the essence of the Microkelvin Collaboration was designed.
The website was packaged with a tool which facilitated the creation and sharing of documents for participants of the research centre. This has resulted in a more robust community around the research.
Overall, through communication consultancy, an attractive website and logo design and document collaboration tools, Showtime Studios has enhanced the overall communication of the European Microkelvin Collaboration. Through a vibrant website, Microkelvin researchers can now more effectively reach other researchers, promote the equipment and tools used as well as attract the wider academic community.
